Stutzman Applauds Veto-Proof Passage of CFPB Reform

Statement

Date: Nov. 19, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued this statement today following yesterday's passage of H.R. 1737, the Reforming CFPB Indirect Auto Financing Guidance Act by a veto-proof vote of 332-96.

"Since issuing its 2013 Bulletin, the CFPB has been trying to fundamentally alter the auto lending market without going through the formal rulemaking process. I heard from auto dealers from Indiana and across the country about this issue and introduced my own bill to address it last year. The fact that such a strong bipartisan group provided this bill with a veto-proof passage is especially gratifying.

"I look forward to swift passage in the Senate and a signature from the President so that hardworking Hoosier families can continue to find affordable auto loans."
